Talking Careers, Fatherhood and Cars with HGTV’s Scott McGillivray

Scott McGillivray has come a long way from being a Commerce student at the University of Guelph.

The now famous TV contractor, thanks to the hit show Income Property which airs on both HGTV and the DIY Network in both Canada and the United States didn’t initially have his sights set on the world of contracting and deriving income from rental properties.  But the Commerce student took an assignment and combined it with the reality of the scarcity of suitable and affordable rental properties when he was going to school, and turned it into an idea that has wound up becoming incredibly successful.

In that time, Scott along with his wife have also become parents to two girls and have enjoyed all the ups and downs of fatherhood – which also included turning the quest for a new family home into another TV series.

With strong branding, Scott has also become a sought after spokesperson for many companies. His latest role is with Hyundai Canada as they have asked Scott to take on the task of driving, learning about and then speaking to the public on their all new 2019 Santa Fe Crossover.

It was in this capacity that I was invited to chat with Scott on camera and with that opportunity I also took the chance to have a more thorough conversation with him – the end result of which is the video which can be watched by clicking below.
