Rope Climbs & Zip Lines Provide Outdoor Family Fun

A couple weeks ago, I saw a picture making the rounds on Facebook of a pristine forest setting as well as the caption “The Original Playstation”.  I absolutely loved the picture for it reminded us that once upon a time before sedentary electronics kept our kids stuck in front of a TV, we had the great outdoors to be active, adventurous and creative with.

Around the same time I was told of a brand new eco-adventure park that opened up in north Oshawa, located about an hour north east of downtown Toronto called Treetops Eco-Adventure Park.  As the only facility in the GTA offering Treetop ropes courses and zip lines, I thought I’d pay it a visit to see how they blend exercise with nature as part of our ongoing Enviro Dad Reviews series.

On a rainy Thursday in early August I brought my 3 sons with me and we headed up to Treetops, and in doing so I prepared this video review:

Eco-Adventure parks such as Treetops are an amazing way to remind both our children and ourselves that engaging in outdoor activities is so much fun.  Treetops plans to stay open year round and I think I’m going to have to return again in winter for I can imagine just how much fun zip lining in the snow could actually be!

I would encourage anyone to visit Treetops Eco-Adventure Park or similar parks if you live outside the Greater Toronto Area.  Trust me, there isn’t a video game on any PlayStation, Wii, DS or whatever that can quite compare!
