New Kia EVs to Qualify for Canadian Federal Government Rebates

For Canadians who are thinking about going electric with their next vehicle purchase, Kia is getting set to offer two new longer range choices for their consideration. And to make things more appealing, the Federal government is about to launch a new incentive program to make the purchase price several thousand dollars cheaper.

Kia has become one of the industry’s only brands to offer two distinct electric models with the launch of both the all-new 2020 Kia Niro EV and 2020 Kia Soul EV. Today Kia Canada announced pricing for these two vehicles and it comes on the same day that Federal government announced new incentives for electric vehicles with both models meeting the requirements of the new regulations.

Effective May 1st, battery-electric, hydrogen fuel cell, and longer range plug-in hybrid vehicles are eligible for an incentive of $5,000 provided that it is a vehicle with six seats or fewer and the base model (trim) Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) is less than $45,000. Higher priced versions (trims) of these vehicles, up to a maximum Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) of $55,000, will also be eligible for purchase incentives.

Both the 2019 Kia Niro EV and 2020 Kia Soul EV boast real-world design, with a brand new long-range motor that will deliver 383 kilometres of range or more, providing sufficient range for most driving needs.

“We’re excited to be bringing not one but two real-world electric vehicles to the market and, with these new Federal incentives, there was never a better time for Canadians to take a good hard look at an EV,” said Michael Kopke, Director of Marketing, Kia Canada Inc. “With more than 383 kilometres of driving range without compromising design, features or driving fun, the 2019 Kia Niro EV and 2020 Kia Soul EV are here to make the switch to electric easy for Canadians.”

  • 2019 Kia Niro EV EX                            $44,995
