Eco-Desinations – Hockley Valley Resort

An ongoing commitment I have to readers of this site, as part of the Enviro Dad Reviews series, is to learn about and investigate travel destinations that are both eco and family friendly.

Hockley Valley Resort is located near Orangeville, ON about 90 minutes northwest of downtown Toronto and in the close to 30 years that it has been owned and operated by the Adamo family it has undergone a significant transformation.  From a rather rundown and nearly bankrupt 28 room facility, Hockley Valley resort is now over 100 rooms of modern ammenities with a significant emphasis and focus on both sustainability and operating in an eco-friendly manner.

In order to learn more about how Hockley Valley has embraced environmental stewardship into all of its business practices, I recently visited the resort and had the chance to tour the facilities as well as have an in depth discussion with V.P. Julie Adamo Cass.  Based upon my visit and discussions, I’ve prepared this video review of Hockley Valley Resort as an Eco Destination:

After not visiting Hockley Valley Resort for about a dozen years, I was impressed by the transformation it has undertaken and I’m pretty confident in saying that it won’t be a dozen years before I return once again.
