Are YOU Canada’s Next Young Green Journalist?

ENVIRO NEWS AND EVENTS

SUBMITTED BY: ENVIRONMENTAL DEFENCE

Attention all Canadian youth! Time is running out for the search for the next best and brightest in environmental journalism.

Could it be you? Don’t miss out!

Canada’s Next Green Journalist is an annual competition looking for inspired stories, photos and videos about local environmental issues. It is part of an international project by the Foundation for Environmental Education.

This year, we’re kicking up the competition a notch by putting youth to the ultimate creative test. We’re asking youth from across Canada to put on their reporter’s caps to investigate an environmental problem that affects everyone:  waste.

2012 Winners

This is how the challenge works: if you’re between 11-14 and 15-18 years-old, we want you tell us your solutions to litter in your community. And if you’re 19-21, we want to know your solutions to the overall problem of waste management.

To sweeten the deal, we have some pretty cool prizes. For each category and age-group, you could win a digital camera, laptop or video camera. Your school will receive cash to be used for an environmental initiative. And your work will also be published online and you will have an opportunity to compete internationally.

Oh yeah, and one more thing: you will win an all-expense paid trip to report on an international environmental education mission!  Pretty cool, eh? Last year’s winners went to Copenhagen, Denmark where they learned more about environmental issues with students from other countries. They all had an amazing, life-changing experience.

So, what are you waiting for? Show us that you have what it takes.

The deadline for Canada’s Next Green Journalist is March 1, 2013.
