TEST DRIVE: 2017 Hyundai Elantra

There is perhaps no more important model to Hyundai than the Elantra.  As the company’s top-selling vehicle and one that has cracked the Top 10 in Canadian, American and Global sales for many years in a row, this compact sedan is crucial to Hyundai’s overall success as an automaker.

For 2017, Hyundai has released its 6th generation iteration of the Elantra, and given how competitive the compact car segment can be, they have certainly tried to up the ante with their latest release.

While I never have been a huge Elantra fan up until now, I always conceded that it was a popular draw.  After spending a week with the new 2017 Elantra for another EnviroDad Test Drive, my opinion has significantly changed – and for the better.  This new Elantra has packed more into its compact frame in terms of technology, comfort features, safety and styling than just about any other competitor in its class.  It plays above its category weight in a number of areas, and it left me more impressed than I originally expected to be.

Is this the best Elantra they’ve ever made?  I’d say so, and I think its run as a top-10 seller around the world has little risk of coming to an end.
