Pop quiz – Which automaker offers the most plug-in hybrid models in their product line-up?
Toyota? – Nope. G.M.? – Nope. Tesla? – Good guess, but nope.
Surprisingly the answer is Porsche. Yes, Porsche.
With a trifecta of the 918 Spyder supercar, the Panamera S E Hybrid, and now the 2015 Cayenne S E Hybrid, Porsche tops the list of having the most plug in models in it’s line-up.
The Cayenne S E Hybrid replaces the Cayenne hybrid as part of the model redesign. Utilizing a parallel hybrid system, the Cayenne S E Hybrid combines a 3.0 litre V6 supercharged engine with an electric motor paired to a 10.7 Kwh battery. Combined they offer a total output of 416 hp and 435 lb/ft of torque. Not bad for a plug-in.
With keys to a Cayenne S E hybrid having less than 1,000 KMs on the odometer in my hand, I thought a video review would be more appropriate than a bunch of words with some pictures for another installment of the Enviro Dad Test Drive:
With the launch of the Cayenne S E Hybrid, Porsche is changing conventional wisdom on its ear. No longer is a vehicle with the ability to combine all-electric with internal combustion driving something that appeals just to the early adopters and eco-aficionados. Instead Porsche continues to demonstrate that luxury, performance and eco-consciousness are easily interwoven into an attractive and appealing high-end package which is able to attract performance luxury enthusiasts as well.
