At 60 years of age, Santa’s Village may be an ‘old dog’, but that’s not stopping it from adding a few new tricks to it’s offerings for 2015.

Santa’s Village is located in Bracebridge, ON which happens to not only be smack-dab in the middle of Ontario’s Cottage Country, but also along the 45th parallel which is halfway between the North Pole and the Equator.  2015 will mark the 60th Anniversary of the fabled children’s amusement park, and to show that they aren’t happy to rest on their laurels they have taken to the trees to create a new attraction for the more adventurous set.

The new Muskoka Zip Lines and Aerial Park offers visitors a chance to participate in a series of aerial adventures including a aerial adventure course, a zip-line canopy tour  through the trees, and a rather daunting 40 foot high jump tower where you free-fall briefly before the harnessing system grabs hold and gently brings you the rest of the way down.

The new aerial adventures pair up nicely with the existing theme park, which is generally geared towards the younger set.  It also now creates a trio of attractions when combined with the Sportsland amusement area which features such attractions as go-karting, batting cages, bungee trampolines, mini-golf, a rock-climbing wall, games arcade and more.

The kids in my family range in age from 5 to almost 13 and each of them found plenty to do in both the Sportsland and Tree-top Adventure areas to keep themselves busy (and happy) for hours.

If you haven’t ever been to Santa’s Village before, or if you haven’t been in quite some time perhaps this 60th anniversary year for the park is the right time to head back once again.  There will be special events throughout the season to mark the milestone and information on them can be found by visiting the park’s website.
